Recipe: 10-Minute Guacamole

Okay, I’m no fantastic cook. Without a formal recipe, I can wrap up some pretty decent mac n’ cheese, spaghetti bolognese, scrambled eggs, avocado toast, breakfast smoothies, entree salads… and that’s about it. However, during this quarantine, I am taking it upon myself to learn and master some of my favorite and most basic of foods. Hopefully, I can know how to make them like the back of my hand. The first recipe: guacamole.

Growing up in Southern California, the motherland of avocados, my love for guacamole developed as soon as I can remember. SoCal is filled with delicious guacamole. Instead of buying it this lockdown, I decided to make some myself, for the sake of #WFH. I am pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to make and how delicious it turned out. Humbly, I think I pretty much nailed it.

So, whether you cook regularly or have an avid fear of the kitchen, this recipe is guaranteed to do the trick. (Perhaps you want to virtually enjoy this dip with family and friends?)

Time: 10 mins

Servings: 4

Ingredients:

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 2 ripe Roma tomatoes
  • 1 lime
  • 3 tbsp cilantro, chopped
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cumin

Instructions:

  1. Cut the 3 avocados and place them in a serving bowl. Mash with a fork.
  2. Add in the lime juice, cumin, and salt.
  3. Dice the 2 tomatoes (pro tip: remove/scoop out the seeds) and put them in the serving bowl.
  4. Add the cilantro and onion. 
  5. Mix everything.
  6. Grab some tortilla chips and enjoy.

As I said, it’s effortless. But also extremely good. You’ve been warned.
